Great Falls Attorney to "Run for Justice"

Great Falls attorney, Robin Meguire, plans to brave the cold, snow and ice expected at Seeley Lake’s annual “Snow Joke Half Marathon” on February 25 to help raise money for the Montana Justice Foundation (MJF).

The MJF works to achieve equal access to justice for all Montanans through effective funding and leadership.

“Support for MJF is critical as it helps Montana’s neediest citizens enforce their legal rights,” said Meguire. “Low income and underserved populations are already at a disadvantage; such disproportionate injustice should not be compounded by an inability to pay for an attorney.”

The MJF  is facing unprecedented budget cuts due to the impact of record low interest rates on the Interest On Lawyer Trust Accounts (IOLTA) Program.   IOLTA is a law-related public service program that strengthens our justice system. IOLTA programs generate funds that are used to support legal aid, legal education for the public, and other activities that improve access to, and the quality of, justice. Meguire hopes to raise at least $2000 for the Montana Justice Foundation to help mitigate the losses to the IOLTA Program.

Social Security Disability Advocates Give Back to Support Civil Legal Aid

In 1996, two former legal aid attorneys submitted a proposal to the Montana Justice Foundation (MJF) for seed money to open a much needed non-profit whose mission was to provide Social Security Disability advocacy for those who could not afford legal representation. The MJF responded by supporting these pioneers with grant funding and the People’s Law Center (PLC) was born.
