OUR VISION

Because all people deserve equal access to individual safety,
security, and opportunity which the civil legal system exists to
protect; it is the vision of the Montana Justice Foundation to make
justice accessible to all Montanans.
WHO WE ARE

The Montana Justice Foundation is the state’s primary funder of
access to justice programs. MJF funded programs provide free legal
advice and assistance to low-income Montanans with civil legal
needs.
The Montana Justice Foundation serves as the charitable arm of the
Montana legal community and supports programs that promote access to
justice throughout Montana. Currently, two of every five low-income
Montanans in need of civil legal aid are turned away, their legal
needs unmet.
As the need for civil legal aid increases, MJF is working to
expand its funding base to meet the growing needs of its grantees;
organizations like the Montana Legal Services Association, the
Cascade County Law Clinic, state Court Appointed Special Advocates
(CASA) programs and Domestic Violence Education and Services
(DOVES). MJF is primarily funded through its administration of the
Interest on Lawyers’ Trust Accounts (IOLTA) program and its
cultivation of support from private attorneys, law firms and others
interested in the access to justice cause.
